Why Flossing Matters:

Brushing cleans the surface of your teeth, but flossing removes plaque and food particles from between your teeth and along the gumline—areas your toothbrush can’t reach. Regular flossing helps prevent:

  • Cavities

  • Gum disease

  • Bad breath

How to Floss Properly:

  • Start with about 18 inches of floss. Wrap most around one finger on each hand, leaving an inch or two to work with.

  • Gently slide the floss between your teeth. Avoid snapping it, which can irritate your gums.

  • Curve the floss into a C-shape. Hug the side of each tooth and move the floss up and down to clean the surface.

  • Don’t forget the back teeth! These are often missed but just as important.

  • Use a clean section of floss for each tooth.

Pro Tip: If traditional floss is tricky, try floss picks, water flossers, or interdental brushes!

Your gums might feel tender or bleed a little at first, but consistency is key. Healthy gums don’t bleed!
