Why Flossing Matters:
Brushing cleans the surface of your teeth, but flossing removes plaque and food particles from between your teeth and along the gumline—areas your toothbrush can’t reach. Regular flossing helps prevent:
Cavities
Gum disease
Bad breath
How to Floss Properly:
Start with about 18 inches of floss. Wrap most around one finger on each hand, leaving an inch or two to work with.
Gently slide the floss between your teeth. Avoid snapping it, which can irritate your gums.
Curve the floss into a C-shape. Hug the side of each tooth and move the floss up and down to clean the surface.
Don’t forget the back teeth! These are often missed but just as important.
Use a clean section of floss for each tooth.
Pro Tip: If traditional floss is tricky, try floss picks, water flossers, or interdental brushes!
Your gums might feel tender or bleed a little at first, but consistency is key. Healthy gums don’t bleed!
